The Windrush Front Room – 1948 – 1971

You will be able to immerse yourself in a special exhibition delivered by the North Kent Caribbean Network. Experience first-hand a front room and familial space of a typical Windrush migrant family from the Caribbean, who would have arrived to the UK on the SSE Windrush in the 1940’s. The exhibition will transport you to a time of new beginnings, cross cultural aesthetics and pride in ones heritage.
The exhibition will run for the entire month of October celebrating Black History Month and a generation of peoples that overcame great hardship in the hopes of a new life and opportunities.
